TOP SHELF WINTER READS

It's no secret at the AKD studio that I have an ever-growing wish list of inspiring design books I dream of adding to my bookshelf.

As winter sets in I'm especially looking forward to the darker, colder weekends and no longer needing an excuse to simply put my feet up! I can't wait to curl up under a soft blanket with a hot pot of honey tea beside me and dive head-first into the wonderful worlds created by Thomas Pheasant, David Collins, Jean-Louis Denoit and Nancy Braithwaite.

This is the epitome of classic American style. I imagine the home-owners in cashmere sweaters!

It has become therapeutic for me to hold a gorgeous design book in my hands; to turn their rich, glossy pages and breathe in the printed scent, instead of mindlessly scrolling for hours and hours through Pinterest and Instagram which I’m sure many of us are guilty of!

ABCDCS by David Collins Studio

The late David Collins is an interior design icon - think of the kind of luxurious London bars you would find Mr James Bond.

I dream of one day owning a home which houses a library filled to the brim with all of my dreamy interior design books. Artfully arranged by the colour of their spine, inter-dispersed with vignettes of tchotchkes, and standing perfectly proud between these gorgeous Moon Bookends by Studio Joa Herrenknecht.

Although each of these designers has an incredibly different aesthetic, I look to them for constant inspiration as they all create timeless stylish interiors. You know what they say, 'trends come and go but style is forever' . . .

Simplicity by Nancy Braithwaite

Simple interiors can be rich and inviting when there are layers of textures and tones. And lots and lots of books!
