UNDER CONSTRUCTION: WHAT LIES BENEATH

Our clients were so excited to start their renovation as soon as they were handed the keys to their new house that we hit the ground running with this project!

We started work on our concept design at the same time as the demolition of the kitchen, bathrooms and old integrated joinery began – so there was no turning back!

With the added advantage of the builder already being on site, we were thrilled to do some investigation work of this glorious old Victorian terrace, situated in one of Sydney’s affluent inner-city suburbs known for it’s rich history and grand old mansions and architectural monuments built in the 1800s and early 1900s.

We loved the idea of reinstating original features such as the beautiful ornate wall paneling and cornices that were loved in the Victorian era.

The house revealed many surprises – some good, such as the hidden original internal sandstone walls, and some not so good, as we discovered the original fireplaces having been removed and their chimneys closed in.

A good surprise! The kitchen plasterboard had been hiding the original sandstone walls that we will restore to their original glory.

Our brief was to modernise and increase the functionality of this gorgeous Victorian family home whilst restoring its charming character.

Our clients and their two small children won’t be moving in to their new home just yet with construction well underway . . .
