SPRING SIPS

Now that Spring has sprung, I too have a new spring in my step as I emerge out of my Netflix cocoon in search of fabulous new examples of design in our city.

Sydney is coming up roses with new bars and restaurants enticing me to while away the longer, warmer evenings and regain my social butterfly status.

So it’s time to freshen up, spread my wings and sip my way through the most delicious cocktails and stunning spaces that Sydney has to offer this season.

First on my list is the botanical wonderland Hacienda

Whimsical wisteria blooms line the coffered ceiling with gorgeous brass accents, plush blush and sage toned lounges provide the perfect place to perch and admire the stunning Sydney Harbour views.

The interior is light and fresh and takes cues from 1950’s pastel palettes. The Harbour Bridge is on full display through the expansive floor to ceiling glass windows.

My next stop is Beta Bar where the interiors are as stunning as a Grecian goddess! The perfect mix of grunge meets luxe.

Vibrant teal and turquoise rugs line the edgy polished concrete floors. Warmer textures of timber, wicker, and rattan offset the cool exposed brick and industrial ceiling. Original doors and windows are left raw and untouched to give authenticity and character to the space.

Original archways and doors define spaces and create more private nooks in the expansive interior.

Glassware designed by London based designer Lee Broom is a contemporary take on a traditional champagne saucer. The texture of the bar is highlighted with glowing LED lighting.

Last but not least on my bar hopping list is Bar Machiavelli.

Located a stone’s throw from our design studio in Potts Point, an old tyre factory has been stunningly converted to create a rich and moody space.

A series of original A-frame trusses are highlighted with dramatic lighting. Frivolous images of old and new famous faces are projected onto the brick walls. The timber Thonet dining chairs used throughout are both casual and classic . . . perfect for a cocktail with a colleague or friend after work.

Move over Espresso Martini, say hello to Tiramisu Martini!
