DENFAIR'S SYDNEY DEBUT

We could not contain our excitement when it was announced that 2018 was the year DENFAIR was finally coming to Sydney!

The long time Melbourne-based event has historically drawn some of the most innovative national and international designers. This year the annual design event was held over three days from 16 - 18 August.

This year at the Hordern Pavilion at Moore Park, 50 exhibitors showcased their designs including hardware, furniture, art, objects and much more. On Friday we escaped the studio for a few hours to immerse ourselves in the design feast that was DENFAIR Sydney.

Here are a few of our favourite things . . .

A BREATH OF FRESH AIR

It's hard to believe that it's almost time to farewell Summer. Although I'm not quite ready, I must admit that I actually love this transeasonal time of year as we witness the colours of the urban landscape change so dramatically around us.

And as we begin to switch our iced coffee orders for warm spiced chai lattes, we are making the most of these final few weeks with their long balmy nights, and welcoming the refreshingly sexy chill that has begun to linger on our skin. As I look outside the window of our design studio, I see the trees transforming to red, orange, pink and gold before my eyes. Knowing there is nothing I can do to stop their branches from soon falling bare, I decide to embrace the coolness that's inevitably coming.

With these changes on the way, we turn inward, gravitating to the warmth of indoors to keep as snug as bugs. Perhaps this time spent inside will inspire and ignite the interior design fire within each of us. I, for one, am already tempted by these stunning autumnal pieces which would make any one happy to be stuck indoors in the cooler months ahead and beyond.

These retro-inspired Classicon Bow Coffee by Guilherne Torres provide the perfect balance between casual and elegant with their beautiful deep burnished brass and glass tops that reflect the surrounding space. The three tables come together to create a dynamic and moody sculptural centrepiece for any lounge room.

The Crescent Wallpaper by Kelly Wearstler reflects the effect that Autumn has on nature. Autumn breezes fill the streets, taking with them the crisp golden leaves that they whip up and carry away on their breath. The design is full of energy, making it a fabulous feature wallpaper.

THE BELLE IN THIS MONTH'S BELLE MAGAZINE

Belle magazine recently invited Alex to draw on her design expertise to curate a selection of bedside tables for Belle Loves in their February/March issue.

In combining beauty and function, Alex believes that the bedside table can be the piece that sets the tone for the bedroom, like a decorative frame to accompany a well-made bed.
