Creating unique spaces is our obsession
Nested within Sydney’s North Shore Private Hospital, The Paediatric Clinic was just like it’s patients – very small and in need of a little help. After providing care to so many for so long, it was time for the clinic to receive some much-needed TLC of its own.
With a very short construction programme of just four weeks, we completely transformed The Paediatric Clinic into a modern, peaceful and nurturing space.
After having her own baby at the Mater Hospital and becoming involved with the Friends of the Mater Foundation charitable trust, Alexandra Kidd was invited to create the interior spaces for the new Special Care Nursery.
The brief was to create a world-class facility that nurtures babies, as well as parents, in keeping with the well-established Mater ethos. Beyond a selection of hospital-grade paint colours, Alex responded with a concept design and story to create a comforting space for well-deserved parents and babies at an often stressful and emotional time in their lives.
In an Australian first, the facility comprises individual rooms where the Mater’s tiniest patients can be cared for in a personalised nurturing environment, and where parents have access to their baby in a private space.
Alex’s depth of experience in residential interior design influenced her approach to the Special Care Nursery, creating unique spaces that parents can personalise. Carefully selected colours, materials and furniture not often seen in healthcare environments, add to the sense of ‘home’, comfort and security.
Double Roasters is an eclectic urban cafe and coffee roasting house in the Inner-West of Sydney.
A highly successful restauranteur and café operator asked us to help create his new spin off business. This project included branding, schematic design, Development Application and planning issues along with the fit out of the café. Playing curator to our client’s extensive old wares collection gave us the finishing touches for this urban bustling inner city café.
This is the third salon we have worked on for this client and friend. The previous salons were large, clean and modern … everything you would expect from a contemporary inner city salon. But this venture was a sea change … a complete change from that life.
The brief for this unique salon was to create an intimate Moroccan styled space not just to reflect the Moroccan aesthetic but also for the salon to emulate the casual inviting ethos.
On a very restricted budget and even more restricted space we were able to create this Moroccan oasis with wallpaper, lighting and furniture.
The space is truly successful and reflects the client's brief and personality.
