I was thrilled to receive a phone call from this client. I had worked with them in their business life and had always respected them. To be invited into their home was a real privilege.
The home had been commissioned and built by PTW in the mid-1970s and was a fabulous example of contemporary Australian architecture of this period. However, their life had progressed, their children had moved out of home and they were entering a new chapter of their lives.
The brief was to design the home to be sympathetic to the original architecture and to create an oasis for them to enjoy as a couple rather than as a family. The client loved the transformation and I'm thrilled to still call them clients as well as friends. In fact after the renovation their children tried to move back in!
