Second Act
To return to a home and reshape it for an entirely new life is a rare opportunity in design.
Second Act sees us revisit a Sydney terrace we first completed in 2019, now under new ownership. Rather than start again, we worked with the architecture we knew intimately, reshaping the interiors around a family of avid art collectors and the collection they have built over time. The bones remain, but the identity is entirely their own.
Art sits at the centre. A vivid blue work by Kerry Armstrong greets you on arrival, setting in motion a thread of colour that moves through high-gloss joinery, collected works and, most distinctly, a custom stair runner graduating from pale blue above to a deep saturation below.
Glass bricks filter light through a mid-level bookshelf, while high-gloss portals bring precision and intensity against the irregularities of the original terrace. Upstairs, the home opens to harbour views. Below, darker spaces offer retreat.
Second Act is exactly that: the same home, reinterpreted through different lives, different stories and a new point of view.
